Paul works predominantly with natural, locally sourced materials, such as iron and copper powder, local pigments, lime, and egg yolk from his own chickens. He uses oxidation techniques to create organic textures and tones that echo his deep connection to the environment. Over the past six years, Paul has been developing a food forest near Málaga, reflecting his commitment to sustainability and ecological responsibility. He firmly believes that artists have a role in minimizing environmental impact, which is why he consciously avoids synthetic materials like acrylics.
Paul’s work is also inspired by the Islamic cultural heritage of Andalucía, a region deeply shaped by centuries of Muslim influence. In a time when the Middle East is often depicted negatively, he seeks to celebrate the extraordinary beauty and sophistication of Islamic contributions, which he believes have left an unparalleled legacy in the world.
